 Dateline June 5, 2005:   The results of the recently held bye elections have dealt a decisive blow to the corrupt and communal BJParty of former Chief Minister Manohar Parriker. In place of the BJP have come in the equally corrupt but non-communal Congress Party. For Goans, it was a choice between a rock and a hard place. Eventually, they decided that they had enough of authoritarian and communal dictatorship.

Not much hope lies ahead for Goa and Goans, unless the Congress Party changes its corrupt ways. Much damage has been done to traditional Goan communal harmony by the utterly divisive and vindictive  BJP. Hopefully, the Congress politicians have learnt a lesson or two during their stint in the opposition benches. If not, it will be back to the dark ages of  communal hate, vandalism  and coercion.

One of the items which is being watched for is whether the capital city of Panjim becomes a 'Venice' after the anticipated monsoon rains. If it does, it would be a fitting tribute to the glorious mismanagement of Goa's funds under the BJP. The BJP would not only have sunk Goa's economy, it would also have sunk the capital city.

Dateline May 28, 2005:   The opposition right wing Hindu nationalist party of India is now headed by L.K. Advani. Stephen Noronha suggests that Mr. Advani buy a dictionary:

" In his speech at Margao L.K. Advani tells Goans that a vote on June 2nd is a vote for democracy. In recent times the BJP (in Goa) has damaged a hotel belonging to its opponents. In Fontainhas they desecrated name plates and damaged public property.

Either Advani does not know what goes on in Goa other then during election time or he has not understood the word democracy. At the national level when he had the opportunity to air his opinion in Parliament he chose to boycott it at the expense of the exchequer.  If this is democracy than I suggest Advani buy a dictionary "

Dateline April 30, 2005:   The once clean and serene Goa is being royally messed up ever since the Indian troops marched in and captured it on Dec 19, 1961. There are many who get their knots all tied up when reference is made to the December 1961 invasion of Goa. So be it, for facts will always be facts.

The fact remains that despite the 'tons' of funds that hard working Goans have repatriated from abroad, Goa has become increasingly disorganised and dirtied up . What, one must ask, has happened to all the money which has been earned from iron ore export, tourism and the repatriated Goan sweat?  It certainly does not show when one looks at what has become of Goa.

The answer remains crystal clear when one realises that in 2005,  the average Goan in Goa is catching hell and calling it a good time while the politicians are an epitome of  a Rags to Riches story.  No prizes for guessing that millions of  rupees have basically been stolen by these corrupt politicians, in plain daylight. And what have the watchdogs in the Goan Media done while has occurred ?  Oh ! those watch dogs? They have kept barking at the Portuguese who left Goa over 40 years ago.

And what have the Goans done to these corrupt politicians? You mean besides garlanding them, reelecting them to office, and inviting them as chief guests to their functions? 

Is this Liberation or a masterfully executed con operation.?

Think about it!

Dateline April 10, 2005:  It appears as though the different factions within the  Congress Party of Goa are fighting bitterly among themselves for  spoils which are still in dreamland. From afar it appears that : as a result of this indiscipline within the corrupt Congress Party of Goa,  the equally corrupt but better disciplined  the Right Wing Hindu BJP will return to power in the near future. This turn of events is of special  concern to the Catholic and Secular Goan communities.  Looking Glass believes that the Right Wing Hindu BJP unfortunately is determined to undermine Goans who are of the Catholic faith; and that the BJP  is prepared to lie, spin, manipulate and even get physical in order to achieve that goal.  If Catholic and Secular Goans are smart, they will join hands and form a Third Front which will make both the corrupt Congresswallas, and the equally corrupt BJPites seatless wonders in the coming elections.

Time is of the essence Goemcars. What you decide to do with your future, is in your hands. The corrupt ones have already ripped Goa and made their money. They have enough of stash to enable them to fly out in a heartbeat. What will you do when Goa, traditional Goan harmony & peaceful living, disintegrate even further?
