Cyber-Goans

The Goan Forum( TGF) Goa-Goans d-list is an avenue for Goans to express themselves on any topic. It owes its birth and early development to  Alfredo de Mello, Ben Antao, Vivian D'Souza, Rene Barreto, Paulo Colaço-Dias, Samir Kelekar, Ema Souza-Colaço,  Jose Oscar Noronha and Viveca Pragassam. It is developed as a small limited volume medium for polite conversation  and the sharing of ideas and scripts among e-friends. There have been many interesting discussions - a significant number, naturally,  involving events in Goa. The wealth of original material prompted us to post some of the more interesting posts on this TGF website. The TGF website is owned and managed by Ema & Jose Colaço

The TGF Goa-Goans d-list was initially coordinated by Gaspar Almeida, Ema Souza-Colaco & Jose Colaço. As of August 2004, the coordination of the list has been handed over to Dr. Samir Kelekar, Dr. Gilbert Lawrence and Mr. Gaspar Almeida.

Goa-World is coordinated from the Arabian Gulf by Ulysses Menezes & Gaspar Almeida. The Goa-World site is an excellent source for information about Goa.  The Goan Forum specially recommends the 24 hour Konkani music station at Goa-World, and the Goa-World photos section especially the photographs by the well known Goan journalist Fred  Noronha. From this site, Goa-World coordinates the Gulf-Goans list, probably the most important and useful list dealing with Goan affairs.

GoaCom is the fruit of the labours of Tim de Mello (Canada), Marlon Menezes(US),  John D'Souza(Canada),  Eddie Fernandes (UK) and many other Goans.

GoaCom has been generous enough to host GoaNet and GoaNews. Countless Goans all over the world look forward to the Goa News briefs provided daily (with almost religious regularity) by Joel D'Souza.

GoaLink coordinated by Rene Barreto & Jose Colaco helped keep Goan cyber discussion alive in 1997-98 when a 10 month semi-coma developed in the activity of GoaNet. Technical support for GoaLink was provided by Marlon Menezes. In July 1998, Goalink was merged with GoaNet to form the new GoaNet.

GoaCom also hosts a delightful webzine GoaNow produced in Goa by Joel D'Souza, Fred Noronha, Rajan Fulari, Alistair Miranda and the well known Goan political cartoonist & satirist ALEXYZ.

The Goa Computers for Schools Program (GCSP) is being coordinated by Daryl Martyris, Emmanuel D'Silva and David Futers. The Goa Musical Society (GMS) which is keeping alive the spirit of traditional Goan music in the UK has Joao Paulo Cota, Paulo Colaço-Dias and Rene Barreto at the helm.

The Goan Forumİ strongly commends the principals of all the above entities for their commitment and acts of civic generosity towards Goan causes.

On the issue of Goan causes, there are several groups in Goa who are battling the odds. Among them are Muriel D'Souza and Mario Mascarenhas at the Saligao Civic Cell, Roland Martins and team at GoaDESC,  Bailancho Saad, Floriano & Nash Lobo, Aires Rodrigues, and Norma & Claude Alvares  at  The Goa Foundation.

The Goan Forumİ is pleased to present on this TGF WEBSITE , a selection of the posts from the TGF Discussion list. The posts are formatted and edited for the benefit of the cyber-community.

The Goan Forumİ trusts that you will enjoy them. Comments are always welcome and may be sent to : comments
